The Alameda Residence is a modernized 1913 craftsman in northeast Portland that was renovated in just four months. The intentional balance of historic features and minimally-designed new elements results in a house ideally situated for modern living.

Refinished original Douglas fir treads define the stair to the upper level, while rebuilt french doors make for a notable transition to the main living space. Window and door casings were updated to a simplified and modernized profile that contrast the original ornate detailing. New clear vertical grain Douglas fir floors at the kitchen compliment original flooring throughout the main level, and a new large awning window invites the outdoors in. Sleek Dekton countertops can withstand hot pots and pans and contribute to the monochromatic nature of the kitchen.
