The Alameda Residence is a modernized 1913 craftsman in northeast Portland that was renovated in just four months. The intentional balance of historic features and minimally-designed new elements results in a house ideally situated for modern living.

Refinished original Douglas fir treads define the stair to the upper level, while rebuilt french doors make for a notable transition to the main living space. Window and door casings were updated to a simplified and modernized profile that contrast the original ornate detailing. New clear vertical grain Douglas fir floors at the kitchen compliment original flooring throughout the main level, and a new large awning window invites the outdoors in. Sleek Dekton countertops can withstand hot pots and pans and contribute to the monochromatic nature of the kitchen. The primary bathroom is cedar-clad sanctuary, featuring a wall-hung vanity, faucets, and toilet. New energy-efficient wood windows, smooth wall finishes and lighting throughout create the feel of a completely new home.
