This new custom designed residence is located in the city of Sebastopol in Sonoma County, a region famous for its fruit orchards, vineyards and surrounding redwood forests. The region enjoys a beautifully temperate climate throughout the year - perfect for indoor/outdoor living. Situated on a grassy parcel spotted with California live oaks, this residence will serve as a peaceful decampment from city life for the client’s family.  The home was designed as a single level courtyard-style structure which wraps around an outdoor pool and draws your eye toward the oaks and grassy meadow beyond the house.

In plan, the residence is divided into three volumes - the middle containing the main living spaces (living room, kitchen and dining room). The eastern volume contains all the sleeping areas and the western volume contains an office, laundry room and an additional family room. Corrugated metal roofing and natural redwood siding material makes this home an organic addition to its environment. The architecture features themes of agrarian living rendered in a minimal and modern way. 

Designed to embrace the year round temperate climate and blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living, this home features generous openings oriented toward the courtyard and the pool. The interior material palette is typified by finished concrete floors, white walls and the use of white oak casework and custom tile.
