South Cliff Residence is a new house suited to a growing family on a sloped estate overlooking the Columbia River in Washington. The primary volume of the house stretches out to capture outstanding views and a great southern solar exposure.
Double-height glazing defines the dramatic entrance into the home. Soaring twelve foot ceilings continue throughout the main level, while vaulted ceilings at the second level make for gracious private spaces. Multi-slide doors create direct connections to the exterior throughout both levels. The living room, pool house and office pinwheel from the main volume of the house, creating volumetric variation and interest throughout the project. The south-facing grounds include a pool house, planted terraces and a grand stair that steps down to two swimming pools separated by a waterfall feature.
