Constructed in 1968, Westwood Residence is located in the Southwest hills of Portland, Oregon on a leafy and secluded forest lot. This midcentury home had gone untouched for many years and was full of potential, featuring a lava rock wall and fireplace and forest views from every room. We developed a clean and modern remodel that honored the history of the home while simultaneously modernizing and accentuating the existing architecture to be something completely new and compelling.  

The renovation included the addition of several large skylights and new direct connections to outdoor spaces in order to allow light and the natural surroundings to filter into the home. It also included a new covered cedar clad entryway, full kitchen and bathroom renovation, restoration of the original wood and steel entry stair, and restoration of the lava rock fireplace. Additionally, new floor to ceiling windows in the dining area and new exterior windows and doors throughout help to create a home suitable for modern living.
