Sauvie Island Residence is located on a verdant island just north of Portland. Sited in an area known for its lush farmlands, abundant fruit orchards and berry farms, this new custom home is surrounded by generous natural beauty. The home is perched on the high point of a gently sloping long and narrow site, allowing for sweeping views of the Columbia River. The design aesthetic is responsive to the existing surrounding vernacular architecture, while being appropriate for modern life. Exterior materials include board and batten siding and standing seam metal roofs that will stand up to the elements over time.

The interior of the home was designed to highlight the beauty of the island. The lines between indoor and out living are blurred through oversized multi-slide doors that range from sixteen to twenty four feet wide. A large finished patio and an original screened-in porch provide opportunities to lounge and take in the natural surroundings. A walnut tree on the site will be utilized for interior furnishings throughout the home.
